R. Nick Remy is the new director of the Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center (SBTDC) located at the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith.

Remy, who will begin the new job Monday (Nov. 17), has worked for a bank in Fayetteville and is an H&R Block income tax preparation franchise owner in Booneville.

The SBTDC at the university is a regional office of the Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center’s statewide network. That network is tasked to help small businesses with free management assistance, training, resources and information services. The center at UAFS covers Crawford, Franklin, Johnson, Logan, Pope, Sebastian, Scott and Yell counties.

The network was previously known as the Arkansas Small Business Development Center, but added “Technology” in October to emphasis a shift to assisting high-tech and innovative businesses.

Remy earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration in finance from the University of Arkansas. He is working on a master’s in business administration from the UA.
