It’s become a $40 Thanksgiving.
Roby Brock, our content partner at Talk Business, has this post on the cost increase of the traditional Thanksgiving meal. His report, from a press release by the Arkansas Farm Bureau, shows that a family of 10 will spend $40.97 for a traditional meal this year, up from last year’s average of $39.13.
According to Brock’s report: “What will that $40 bucks buy?
“Young tom turkey, the centerpiece of the meal, increased to an average of $15.24, or 95 cents per pound. That’s up from an average of $14.17, or 89 cents per pound in 2007. A package of cranberries is up 36 cents, a package of cubed stuffing mix up 32 cents, pumpkin pie mix is up 24 cents and a package of pie shells is up 23 cents.”
Gobble, gobble.
