Through The Grapevine

You may have heard about the Aug. 6 explosion at the new Embassy Suites hotel in Grapevine, Texas, but did you know there’s a Northwest Arkansas connection?

The hotel is another John Q. Hammons property, and its manager is Bill Bretches. Bretches was most recently manager of the Holiday Inn and Convention Center of Northwest Arkansas, another Hammons property, and moved to Texas to manage the new hotel, which is near Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport.

For those who missed the details, the hotel opened a couple of days before the explosion although construction work was still incomplete.

A fireball exploded over the swimming pool while a workman was servicing the pool heater.
