Richard Earl Bruton, 83, of Fort Smith, Arkansas was called home on Monday, June 23, 2025 in Fort Smith. He was born on July 4, 1941 in Glasgow, Kentucky to Russell and Roxie (Logan) Bruton. A proud U.S. Army Veteran, Richard was also the longtime owner and operator of Taco Mayo in Fort Smith.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 26, 2025, from 5-7pm at the family home, located at 331 Brownwood Estates, Fort Smith, AR.
A memorial service celebrating his life will be held on Friday, June 27, 2025 at 11:30am at Vineyard Community Church in Fort Smith. Burial with military honors will be on Friday morning at 9:50am at the U.S. National Cemetery.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Christina Ann Bruton of Fort Smith; his son Ricky Bruton and wife Cissy of Hackett, AR; and two granddaughters, Katelynn Norris and her husband Hunter of Fort Smith, and Hannah Brown and her husband Jacob of Hackett, AR. He also leaves behind four cherished great-grandchildren: Gracelynn Opal Brown, Madalynn Ann Brown, Carter Lou Norris and Jaxon Richard Norris, who was lovingly named in his honor.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Ocker-Putman Funeral Home of Fort Smith, AR.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that any memorial contributions be made to a fund in honor of his beloved wife Christina, who is currently living in a nursing home with Alzheimer’s. His deepest wish was to care for the woman who had spent her life so selflessly caring for him. While her essential needs are being met, this fund will help provide small comforts such as companionship during times when family cannot be with her. A donation box will be available at the church during the funeral, or contributions can be sent via Venmo to his granddaughter Katie (@Katie-Norris08). Your generosity in honoring his wish means more to the family than words can express.
