As owner of a State Farm insurance agency, Karen Williams works with folks from every industry. The 37-year-old said her outgoing personality helps her communicate with customers from different backgrounds.
“In order to do my job, you have to be good with people,” Williams said, noting that she has always been extroverted.
Indian fans could support her claim, because in college, Williams was a cheerleader at Northeast Louisiana University, now the University of Louisiana at Monroe.
Williams opened her own State Farm storefront in 1992. Now one full-time and three part-time employees staff the office with Williams. Within about five years, she wants to employ five to seven full-time workers.
Williams said she looks for opportunities to develop the best possible customer service.
As a personal touch for her customers, Williams includes her home telephone number on her business cards. Receiving 24-hour service from a small business makes the difference, she said.
Williams also participates in the training and classes offered through State Farm. She said they help maintain a fresh perspective on service.
