A standout football player at Greenwood and later a letterman at the University of Arkansas, Tatum Owenby is passionate about sports.

Because of that, Owenby started his marketing company in 2008. Foxwood Sports is a firm exclusively geared toward high school athletics.

“I love dealing day to day with high school sports,” Owenby said. “And we really believed there was more to high school sports than exists from a marketing and promotions standpoint.”

Owenby, who previously worked as a Walmart vendor and in online marketing, described Foxwood’s first three years as “taking baby steps” to create new products and new tools to help clients reach their customers.

The growth has yielded clients throughout the country, including athletic departments in North Carolina, Florida, New York and Idaho.

Owenby didn’t disclose revenue figures for the company, but said, “we have taken on a considerable amount of more clients in the past year, both locally and nationally.”

Owenby holds a 2002 agriculture, food & life sciences degree from the UA, where he earned the Lon Farrell Academic Award for the 2000-2001 school year.

A certified first responder and personal trainer, Owenby also spends time hunting and fishing. He is a board member for the NWA chapter of Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
