Since buying in as a partner with Aurora Tactical in 2001, Miles Eggart has helped grow it into the largest distributor of night vision and thermal imaging (infrared) equipment in the United States.

With more than $35 million in sales over the last three years, Aurora is at the forefront of the niche industry.

“When I started, we were a $2 million a year company,” Eggart said. “Our record year has been between $15 and $16 million.”

As a government contractor, Aurora built its business through a local approach, for years providing equipment to government law agencies, including the state police, the Little Rock Police Department and the Arkansas Game & Fish Commission.

Today its No. 1 client — almost exclusively, Eggart said — is the U.S. military.

“Our movement has gone from local to more national and international,” he said, noting countries such as Taiwan, Turkey and the Philippines as clients.

Originally from Little Rock, Eggart graduated from the University of Arkansas in 2000 with a double major in marketing and management.

An athlete, Eggart has completed multiple triathlon events and is training for his first Ironman competition. He’s also a supporter of several organizations, including the Fayetteville Public Schools Foundation and the Walton Arts Center.
