Arkansans wary of larger federal role in health care

Arkansas voters remain happy with their existing health care insurance plan and remain wary of an increased government role in health care reform.

The latest poll segment from the TBQ Poll shows that 53% of Arkansans are “very satisfied” with the quality of health care they receive. The TBQ Poll is managed by TalkBusiness.net, a content partner with The City Wire.

The TBQ Poll asked the following four questions of more than 600 likely Arkansas voters.

• Overall, how satisfied are you with the quality of health care that you and your family receive?
53% Very Satisfied
30% Somewhat Satisfied
8%  Somewhat Dissatisfied
8%  Very Dissatisfied
1%  Don’t Know



These satisfaction versus dissatisfaction numbers have not changed substantially since the July TBQ Poll when 86% said they were somewhat or very satisfied with their health care versus 14% dissatisfied to some degree.

• Would you prefer a health care system where most Americans get their health care coverage through the federal government or a system where most Americans get their health care coverage through a private insurance provider?

• There has been much talk about a government run health care system. Would you consider a proposal that allows you to keep your private insurance if you are happy with your current plan and only choose the government run option if you are unhappy with your current plan? Or are you opposed to the federal government being involved all together?
