Regions Plans ATM Network
Regions Bank is working on creating an automatic teller network in Washington County. Arthur Thurman, president of Regions’ Fayetteville/ Springdale market, said there are six ATMs in various stages of planning, with two planned for Springdale and four in Fayetteville. He said lease agreements have not been signed for any of the locations, but he hopes the first ATM will be online by November.
Two of the Fayetteville ATM locations will be “very accessible” to the University of Arkansas, Thurman said. He said these locations are important because many students and football fans who move to or visit Fayetteville are Regions customers.
Thurman said each ATM will be customized to its location, providing services to meet the needs of customers who are likely to use each ATM.
Regions operates 106 offices in the state. As of June 30, 2003, the bank had deposits of $4.06 billion in Arkansas and controlled 10.78 percent of the state’s market share, the largest of any bank in the state.
By comparison, Arvest Bank Group of Bentonville operates 63 offices and had $2.33 billion in deposits, or about 6.19 percent of the market share, the second largest in the Natural State.
Thurman said Regions will invest in new brick -and-mortar office locations throughout Washington County in the future.
Regions Bank operates six locations in Northwest Arkansas with one each in Bentonville, Fayetteville and Springdale and three in Rogers. The Fayetteville office opened in a temporary location in October, Regions’ first foray into Washington County. That office moved to the Regions Financial Center, a two-story, 20,000-SF full-service Joyce Boulevard branch on June 21. The Springdale location opened in March.
