We hear the site for a new 20-screen stadium-seating movie theater in Fayetteville will likely be CMN Business Park or the intersection of Interstate 540 and Wedington Drive.
Malco Theaters had allegedly been looking at a site in Johnson for the theater complex, but that location apparently has been ruled out.
In addition to Malco Theaters, which owns the Razorback 6 Cinema in Fayetteville, Mayor Dan Coody said a group called Civic Partners was also interested in building a theater in Fayetteville. Coody said Civic Partners may partner with Malco on the project. He confirmed that Malco is looking at CMN and the Wedington Drive sites.
In addition to a large multi-screen complex, Eric Parkinson — who is spearheading development of a $12 million, 40,000-SF project on Dickson Street — wants to include a six-screen movie theater there if the parking situation can be worked out.
Coody said he started talking to potential theater developers two years ago.
Currently, the only stadium-seating theater in the area is Malco’s Cinema 12 in Rogers.
