Hausam This Sound?
David Hausam, the former Republican state representative from Bentonville, is joining solid-waste disposal firm Waste Management Inc. of Tontitown as a governmental relations consultant.
Hausam said he will remain a lobbyist for Jim Walton through the special legislative session on education reform in Little Rock. Hausam said Walton, chairman of Arvest Bank Group Inc. and an heir of Wal-Mart founder Sam M. Walton, supports education reform that includes “strong assessment, strong accountability, rewards for those who do what needs to be done for kids and consequences for those who do not.”
WMI’s new lobbyist will primarily work in the state’s northwest corridor. He’ll assume similar responsibilities formerly held by John Sampier. The former mayor of Rogers, Sampier recently left WMI to manage the 3 million-SF Brownstone mixed-use development on Arkansas Highway 12 in Bentonville.
At a cost of $450 million, Brownstone is projected to have a $1.5 billion economic impact on the area.
