Chefs Will Compete at UARK Bowl for AHA
Chefs from a dozen local restaurants will see on Jan. 17 who’s got the best hors d’oeuvres in Northwest Arkansas.
The public will get to vote on the entries for Best Display, Best of Show, Best Tasting and Most Heartfelt Food at the Second-annual Paint the Town Red fund-raiser for the American Heart Association. The event, being held from 7-11 p.m. on Jan. 17 at the UARK Bowl in Fayetteville, is an attempt to raise $25,000 for the organization.
Heart disease and strokes are the No. 1 killer of American men (see chart on Page 8), and the risks of cardiovascular disease more than doubles after age 34, according to the AHA. About 780 people die annually from CVD-related illnesses in Northwest Arkansas.
Tickets for the event are $35 each, and that includes the sampling of hors d’oeuvres, beer and wine provided by McBride Distributors and Mac-Adoodles, live music provided by local band Mr. Happy, and a silent auction.
Chefs from the following restaurants will compete: The Market at Pinnacle Point, Café Rue Orleans, Crumpet Tea Room-Rogers, Outback Steakhouse, Noodles/Bizy’s, Hoffbrau, Cool Water Café, The River Grille, Sassafras, Marketplace Grill, Brioso Brazil and Lucky Luke’s BBQ.
