AERT Offsets Texas Trouble
On Christmas Day, Advanced Environmental Recycling Technologies Inc. of Springdale sent a letter to its shareholders from chairman Joe Brooks. It updated them on stresses to the business in Texas and the fact that the company is saving money this year in Northwest Arkansas.
The letter reported that weather-related adversity at AERT’s Texas plant could reduce its sales as much as $1.5 million for the quarter. But, Brooks said, improved efficiencies at the company’s Springdale flagship facility prevented any supply interruptions to customers this quarter.
New equipment could reduce AERT’s energy and landfill costs by $750,000 in 2001, Brooks said. The company also plans to “significantly increase distribution and sales over the coming year,” he said.
