Publicly traded Murphy Oil Corp. of El Dorado has purchased a building permit valued at $450,000 to construct a gas station at a Fayetteville Wal-Mart store.

Murphy USA, with 16 loading spots (eight duel-sided gas pumps), will open for business this month at the Wal-Mart Supercenter at 2985 W. 6th St. There is a similar Murphy USA setup with the Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market in east Bentonville. That gas station opened August 11.

There are more than 190 Murphy USA gas stations operating across the country in Wal-Mart parking areas. Murphy hopes to have about 300 in operation by the end of 2000. There are already Murphy USA stations at Wal-Marts in operation in Berryville, Harrison, Van Buren and Fort Smith. They can be found from the South through the upper Midwest.
