Talks are underway with McDonald’s to include chain restaurants in two of three convenience stores Stephen Griffin and Tommy Mardis plan to build in Northwest Arkansas. The projects will total $4 million and are being conducted through the investor’s company, Griffin Mardis Investments Inc.

The first store, at the intersection of Arkansas Highways 265 and 16 in Fay-etteville, will be an Exxon convenience store with an in-house deli and a carwash. It’s expected to be completed by the first quarter of 2000.

The two prospective McDonald’s sites, which with or without the restaurant will be completed by the last quarter of 2000, are at the northwest corner of U.S. Highway 71 and Wedington Drive in Fay-etteville and at the intersection of Arkansas 94 and U.S. Highway 62 in Rogers.

With a McDonald’s, those sites will be 5,000 SF each. Without, they would be closer to 3,000 SF. First National Bank & Trust Co. of Rogers has financed the land acquisition for the projects.
