Bentonville’s Bertschy Industrial Park will soon be the home of Consumer Testing Laboratories Inc. A 15,000-SF custom office building/testing facility is being built for the company by Charlton Development Co. LLC of Bentonville.

Charlton, owned and operated by John and Mike Charlton, received a $652,800 loan April 20 from Arkansas National Bank of Bentonville for the project. Consumer Testing will lease the property at Southeast 28th Street and Otis Corley Drive from the developers.

The three-acre lot, across from MSI Moldbuilders Inc., will include a sizable parking lot and provide adequate room for expansion. Consumer Testing does product testing for Wal-Mart Stores Inc. of Bentonville and employs about 200 people locally. The company tests virtually every product Wal-Mart sells, and this move will consolidate its soft-line or apparel testing.

Charlton is also in the process of developing the second, 10-acre phase of its Oak Trace Business Park at Southeast “J” and Southeast 28th streets in Bentonville. The developers have one prospective tenant and are seeking others.
