Larry Singleton, owner of the Jones Hamilton Co. in Decatur, bought 40 acres of farm land Jan. 4 from Ken Wilmoth of Decatur for $580,035 with a mortgage from Decatur State Bank.
The property is at 2680 Iva Road in Decatur.
The acreage will allow Singleton to add another chicken house to his poultry operation, giving him eight total houses and around 140,000 broilers serving Peterson Industries Inc. of Decatur.
James H. Tormey and Wanda Ruth Tormey of of 9200 Limekin Road in Decatur have also expanded their poultry operation. They received a $428,700 refinancing mortgage through Farm Credit Services of Western Arkansas in Bentonville.
