Tom January Floors Inc. of Fayetteville is using a $600,000 loan from First Federal Bank of Arkansas in Harrison to construct a new building.

Tom January and his wife, Catherine, used part of the money to buy three acres of land at 230 E. Township St. The couple paid $350,000 on May 16 for the vacant land, which belonged to Freeland Romans of California. The remainder of the loan will be used to construct a 10,000-SF metal building.

The loan is secured with the land on Township and a 1,078-SF home the couple owns at 1802 Pine Cone Road.

Plans filed with city officials include 6,000 SF of warehouse space and 4,000 SF of office space. Currently, January Floors is housed in 2,000 SF of leased space at 43 E. Township St. The company will occupy 6,000 SF of the new building and lease the remainder.

January also is requesting permission from the city to split the lot into a 1.48-acre lot, where he plans to build the new store, and a 1.59-acre lot that he plans to sell.
