The University of Arkansas’ $3 million indoor football facility, which was completed this summer, will be named the Willard and Pat Walker Pavilion during a ceremony Sept. 26, the day the Arkansas Razorbacks’ play the Crimson Tide of the University of Alabama.
Willard Walker, a former Wal-Mart Stores Inc. executive, donated money to help pay for the facility. He was also a major donor to Baum Stadium, the UA’s new baseball facility.
The pavilion, located on Razorback Road, houses an entire football field. It has 76,000-SF of usable space and is 52 feet high at the center, says Kevin Trainor, associate sports information director at the UA. The football team has been practicing there during rainy weather. After football season, the facility will be available to UA baseball and soccer teams.
