The Morning News of Northwest Arkansas has hired Wesley Brown as business editor and Kristal Kuykendall as assistant business editor. Both began work at the Springdale office in mid-August.

Brown, who grew up in Hope, has been working in Oklahoma City for Bridge News, a business-news wire service based in New York City. Previously, Brown served as a reporter for The Tulsa World.

Brown replaces Becca Bacon Martin, who had been business editor since April 1997. She will serve as editor of the paper’s entertainment section.

For the past three months, Kuykendall has worked as communications coordinator for Southwestern Energy in Fayetteville. Before that, she was a reporter for the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette.

In the newly created assistant editor position, Kuykendall will also serve as a reporter covering Wal-Mart Stores Inc. and the retail beat.
