Vera Jean “Jeannie” Hutchins, 89, of Fort Smith, left this Earth after gaining her Heavenly wings on June 6, 2026.

She is survived by one son, Steven Ray Hutchins of Fort Smith, three daughters; Stephanie Kay Hutchins of Newport, AR, Lisa Renee Scrudder of Mountainburg, AR, and Amanda Jo Hutchins of Fort Smith, grandsons Shawn William Homer Scrudder, Jonathan Alexander Scrudder, and Kevin Dewayne Scrudder, all of Fort Smith, granddaughter Victoria Lynn Wilkinson, her spouse, and three great grandsons of Mountainburg, AR, and her current furry companion, Gizmo of the home.

She married her one true love, Dallas Ray Hutchins, on February 12, 1957. She traveled the world with him as he served this country in the US Army, following him to Texas, Germany, and Washington state before returning home to Arkansas in 1963. They were married for 60 years until his passing in December of 2017. She is also preceded in death by her parents, James Alvin and Emeline Polk, brother J.C. Polk, sister Lorene Salokar, sister Charlotte Elmore, grandson Mark Allen, and furry companions Daye and Sophie.

Burial of remains will be on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at the National Cemetery in Fort Smith.
