Gary Cummings has been appointed as president and CEO of FleetNet America Inc., a subsidiary of Fort Smith-based Arkansas Best Corp.

He replaces C. Oren Summer whose retirement from the company, effective June 30, 2011, was previously announced. Summer will continue to provide his expertise to FleetNet as a consultant to the company.

Since February 2011, Cummings has served as FleetNet’s President and Chief Operating Officer. He began at FleetNet in January 2005 as Vice President of Corporate Services. Cummings, who is 45 years old, has spent his entire career in the transportation industry beginning at an early age working in a trucking company that was owned and managed by his parents.

“I am thankful for the longtime service Oren Summer has provided to FleetNet during his distinguished career, and I look forward to FleetNet’s continued success under Gary’s leadership,” Judy McReynolds, Arkansas Best President and CEO. “Gary’s enthusiasm and innovative thinking will further strengthen FleetNet’s position as one of the leading industry partners in coordinating fleet maintenance services.”

FleetNet America is an industry leading, third-party vendor management company that coordinates maintenance management services comprising emergency roadside events and all other scheduled/unscheduled services for commercial and material handling equipment. The company uses a network of over 60,000 vendors throughout the continental United States and Canada.
