Arkansas officials deliver 57.5% of vaccines received, hospitalizations continue to decline

More than 17,000 Arkansans have been vaccinated in the previous 24 hours, bringing the total to 284,928 doses delivered since Dec. 14, according to the Arkansas Department of Health (ADH). The state does not yet show data reflecting first doses and second doses delivered.

The ADH on Friday (Jan. 29) also reported 1,707 new confirmed and probable COVID-19 cases, down from 2,162 reported the previous Friday. There were 16,592 total tests in the previous 24 hours, just above the 16,410 on the previous Friday. Active confirmed and probable cases fell by 221 to 17,326, but deaths rose by 47 to 4,831.

The ADH also reported 82 available ICU beds as of 2 p.m. Friday, up from 80 on Thursday.

The state has received 470,400 vaccines since federal distribution began Dec. 14, including 200 delivered within the past 24 hours. Vaccines administered in the previous 24 hours rose by 15,058 to 270,332, or 57.5% of vaccines received.

The federal program in which CVS and Walgreens is managing vaccinations in nursing homes and other long term care facilities has received 49,400 vaccines since Dec. 28. Vaccines administered in the past 24 hours rose by 2,186 to 14,596, or 29.5% of vaccines received.

The top five counties with new known cases reported Friday were: Pulaski (271), Benton (171), Washington (147), Sebastian (89), and Faulkner (74). The counties accounted for 44.1% of the 1,707 new confirmed and probable cases.

As of Friday at 4 p.m., there were 25,874,892 U.S. cases and 435,452 deaths. Globally, there were 101,879,986 cases and 2,201,401 deaths.
