Baldwin & Shell promotes Jim Minor to COO

Longtime company executive Jim Minor has been promoted to vice president and chief operating officer of Little Rock-based Baldwin & Shell Construction Co., the company announced Monday (May 21).

Minor is based in Springdale as vice president of the company’s Northwest Arkansas division, but he will be relocating to Little Rock to take over the operations of the 71-year-old company.

“It is a true honor to have Jim in this position,” president and CEO Scott Copas said in a statement. “He has been a loyal and critical member of our team since 1994.”

Copas said a decision of who will replace Minor in the company’s Northwest Arkansas office has not been determined. Patrick Tenney is president of the Northwest Arkansas office and will remain in that position.

Minor started with the company as a carpenter’s assistant and went through the ranks to project coordinator, project manager, senior project manager, vice president of the Northwest Arkansas team and now to vice president and COO.

“My mentors reside at Baldwin & Shell,” Minor said. “Scott Copas, Patrick Tenney and Bob Shell have been more than employers. They have been true friends to me that have helped me to grow both professionally and personally.”

Minor earned a commercial construction degree from Pulaski Tech and a bachelor’s degree in construction engineering from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. He serves on advisory boards for construction-related curriculum at both John Brown University and NorthWest Arkansas Community College. He is also a board member or the Children’s Safety Center in Springdale.
