Bob Stewart Foley was born on December 13, 1934, in Alma and died after a brief illness in Van Buren on June 29, 2025. Bob graduated from Van Buren High School in 1952, and later joined the U.S. Army where he served in Intelligence. After his discharge, he continued his membership in the National Counter Intelligence Corps Association while working for Charles Martin as an inspector and for the Federal Government in the Department of Defense where he received numerous awards and commendations. Bob’s work took him to many interesting places such as Aruba, Cuba, El Salvador, Jamaica, Japan and Venezuela.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife, J. Christene Foley. Bob and Chris married on June 2, 1962 and were married for 60 years. Bob was also preceded in death by his father, Riley Samuel Foley; his mother, Eltha Beatrice Conley; his “Mom”, Carlie Foley Hodge; and his brothers, Charles Riley Foley and Donald Glen Foley.
After retirement, Bob and Chris settled in Van Buren/Fort Smith to be near family. They raised many cats and dogs, and loved watching the Razorbacks (football, basketball and baseball) and the Houston Astros.
Bob will be missed by his family and friends! May God bless him and may he rest in peace.
Bob is survived by his daughters, Terri Sue Jankowski and husband Robert, and Carla D. Davis and husband Danny; his brothers, J. Dean Foley and G. Gene Foley; and sisters, Tamra (Tammy) Nell Holt and Lola Darlene Crane; four grandchildren, Jonathan Conrad, Olivia Danielle and Christopher Robert Jankowski, and Mallory Leigh Davis; nieces, Joyce Dalton, Cristy Clements, and Dana Taylor; nephews, David Foley and Larry Don Foley; and several other nieces and nephews.
Graveside memorial service will be 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 5, 2025 at Gracelawn Cemetery. Cremation is under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren, AR.
