Alice Mae Armstrong, 88, of Fort Smith, AR departed this world on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2025. Alice was born on June 15th, 1936, to the late Glen A. and Dwella I. Ratcliff. She was of the Catholic faith and a lifelong member of Immaculate Conception Church and a member of the ladies Auxiliary.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband Virgil, her brother Robert Ratcliff and her brother-in-laws, Gaylord Armstrong Ray Johnson.
Alice is survived by her three children Coleen Armstrong, Bonnie Helmert (Bo) and Chris Armstrong, all of Fort Smith; four grandchildren, Michelle Morvant (Paul), Kelly Green (Michael), Bo Helmert (Bryce) and Justice Armstrong (Skila); six great grandchildren, Kierston Brasuell (Kody), Gavin Green, Wyatt Green, Kenclee Armstrong, Axton Armstrong and Ellie Armstrong. Alice is also survived by her sister Vivian Johnson of Jesup, Iowa; her brother Glenn and his wife Donna of Arizona; sisters-in-law Velda Armstrong and Jo Ratcliff and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at Immaculate Conception Church on Friday, April 25 at 9:00 am, along with the Rosary at 9:30 am and the Memorial Mass at 10:00 am. Inurnment will be at Immaculate Conception Columbarium. Arrangements are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith.
Alice’s family would like to thank her wonderful and loving caregiver from Home Instead (Sue), as well as those at Greenhurst Nursing Center who took exceptional care of her and treated her like family. Also, many thanks go out to Heart of Hospice and Nina for the wonderful and supportive care she was given.
