Arkansas Advocates for Children and Families (AACF) has hired Val Rose Habrock as its new Director of Governmental Affairs.

Habrock joined the team on June 13, 2022 and will work from AACF’s Little Rock office.

She is a graduate of The King’s College NYC and holds a degree in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics. Her previous roles include serving as Government Affairs Director for the Council on American Islamic Relations, Oklahoma chapter; and as a former Kids Count Director for the Oklahoma Institute for Child Advocacy.

Habrock will advance the mission and policy agenda of AACF by directing the development and execution of AACF’s legislative strategy, managing key relationships with elected officials from both major political parties, policymakers, and influencers, and working with coalitions to develop and advocate for policies.

“We are excited to have Val join the AACF staff,” said Rich Huddleston, AACF executive director. “She brings a strong blend of experience working on social justice issues and lobbying for systemic equity at local and state levels.”

“I love policy-making because, with the stroke of a pen, we can create population-wide change and address the root of systemic inequities,” said Habrock. “I’m happy to join the AACF team in advocating for equitable policies that will improve the lives of Arkansas’s children and families.”

Arkansas Advocates for Children and Families is a statewide, nonprofit child advocacy organization established in 1977.
