Benton County agri extension hosts livestock education session

The Benton County Agriculture Extension Cooperative Service will be hosting an education session on livestock issues as well as demonstrating for weed control. The event is free and open to the public. It will take place at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 4, at the Decatur Livestock Auction at 8950 Arkansas Highway 59.

Johnny Gunsaulis, director of the Benton County Extension Cooperative, said Reagan Cauble from the University of Arkansas Animal Science Department will share research regarding the castration of beef cattle as well as information on growth implants in beef cattle.

Dr. Charles Rosenkrans from the UA Animal Science Department will speak on aspects of predicting beef cattle performance based on hair scores. Gunsaulis said there will also be an overview of weed control demos, ahead of the spring forage season.
