A Northwest Arkansas private school is on the move after acquiring the former headquarters of the Northwest Arkansas Children’s Shelter.

New Heights Christian School Inc., a nonprofit organization in Bentonville, bought the property at 7702 S.W. Regional Airport Blvd. in Bentonville for $288,750.

The property, acquired through auction, includes five buildings totaling 15,220 SF on 6.11 acres.

New Heights administrator Susan Smith said the school will relocate from its current location at 11791 Harmony Lane. A remodeling project is already underway, and school will begin Sept. 2 with an enrollment of 40 students in grades 1 through 12.

“We are an educational ministry for students who are not finding success in the public school sector because of social or emotional difficulties, or learning problems,” Smith wrote in an email. “We were founded in 1999 and this is a new facility for us which will give us room to grow.”

Auction proceeds were given to the NWA Children’s Shelter, which moved to its current location at 14100 Vaughn Road on April 25, 2011.

Arvest Bank of Fayetteville provided financing for New Heights.

Amy Mills with Steve Fineberg & Associates of Bentonville was the listing agent.
