A Wal-Mart Stores Inc. executive has gobbled up some west Benton County farmland with a recent $3.45 million acquisition.

John Aden and his wife, Kristal, bought about 1,748 acres along Y City Road from L&L Farms Inc., led by president Blake Evans

John Aden, with the company since 2007, is executive vice president of general merchandise for Walmart U.S. He made the purchase through the name Twelve Stones LLC.

About 1,150 acres of Aden’s purchase is at the Y City Farm, between Gentry and Decatur about seven miles from the Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport in Highfill.

L&L Farms Inc., formerly a subsidiary of Peterson Farms, sold the property at auction Sept. 25 as part of a land dispersal involving about 3,200 acres. The warranty deed was filed at the Benton County Courthouse on Nov. 9.

Aden, through a company spokesman, said the land was purchased as a long-term investment.
