Arkansas football fans were celebrating their big victory with eight minutes left in the game, but that was a little too early. After having no life all day, Georgia caught fire on offense and scored two touchdowns in the fourth quarter to tie the game with just 3:55 left to play.

With their possession after Georgia tied the game Arkansas managed to go backwards for eleven yards. The Razorbacks were dropped for losses on consecutive plays followed by an incomplete pass and a five yard penalty.

Only an excellent punt of 56 yards by Dylan Breeding denied Georgia tremendous field position. It still looked as if Georgia was going to find a way to get in range for a field goal try as the Bulldogs broke off two rushes of 10 yards. Arkansas defensive end Jake Bequette put an end to the Georgia drive when he dropped quarterback Aaron Murray for an 8-yard loss.

After the Georgia punt, Mallett completed two quick passes to D.J. Williams before finding Greg Childs with the 40-yard touchdown strike. Game over. Razorbacks win. (The score was just as predicted by CSM writer Chris Rushing.)

Mallett makes a statement
It was what you do when things are tough that turns Heisman Trophy candidates into a winner of college football’s most prestigious award. Arkansas was in danger of folding after having the game against Georgia won, but on the drive where the Razorbacks scored the winning TD, Mallett was the essence of clutch.

Two passes to D.J. Williams set the pace and a dart to Greg Childs for a 40-yard score put Arkansas at 3-0 and a set big date with number one Alabama next weekend.

Stop the talking
Bobby Petrino needs to get his team under control. All during the game Arkansas players were yapping and with just 5:38 left in the game Joe Adams was appropriately flagged for shoving a Georgia defensive back.

Officials talk, and the last thing the Razorbacks need is a reputation for being chippy that draws flags.

What were the results of the Joe Adams penalty? Arkansas punts 15 yards further back. Georgia takes at over the 49 and uses the great field position to score the touchdown that ties the game.

Get D.J. the ball
In the first half D.J. Williams had four catches for 28 yards. In the second half QB Ryan Mallett only threw to him twice until the final drive. On the touchdown drive Williams made the first two catches of the drive for 32 yards.

For Arkansas to be as good as possible Williams needs to have the ball in his hands ten times a game.

Up next
Arkansas will host number one Alabama at 2:30 p.m. The game will be televised nationally on CBS. Alabama defeated Duke on the road today (Sept. 17) 62-13.
