Prestigious List Makes Room For NWA Firms
Inc. magazine has released its 2010 500/5000, an annual ranking of America’s fastest-growing entrepreneurial businesses. As it turns out, 13 of those companies are based in Arkansas. Three call Northwest Arkansas home.
According to Inc., the list is ranked according to percentage revenue growth from 2006 through 2009. Qualifying companies must be based in the U.S., privately held, for-profit, and independent as of Dec. 31, 2009. Full-time and part-time employees are included.
With a ranking of No. 445, Rogers-based Rockfish Interactive was tops in the Natural State. Between 2006 and 2009, the digital services firm saw business grow by 674 percent, with $7.7 million in revenue last year. Founded in 2006, the company employs 72.
With a ranking of No. 1,212, Lowell-based I.O. Metro saw 3-year growth of 246 percent. In 2009, the specialty furniture retailer enjoyed revenue of $17.2 million. Founded in 2005, it employs 115.
With a ranking of No. 2,661, business grew at Rogers-based New Creature by 87 percent. Last year, the company – which designs and produces in-store signs and displays for retail suppliers – saw revenue of $23.4 million. Founded in 1999, it employs 22.
“I think it’s always an honor to be recognized for your hard work,” said Patrick Sbarra, president of New Creature. “America is a free-enterprise, entrepreneurial country. It provides for people to start companies, work hard, and achieve this kind of success. Inc. Magazine helps those of us trying to do this. The list gives recognition to those who have fought the good fight.
“We’ll definitely make the list again,” Sbarra added, predicting more growth for his dynamic firm in the near future.
