Michael Cassat, 38, likes to help people. So it was only natural that he followed his grandfather’s lead and went into the field of medicine.

After graduating from the University of Arkansas in 1997, he earned his doctorate at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in 2002.

He completed his family practice residency at the Area Health Education Center in Fayetteville and Springdale in 2005. Cassat then went on to practice with the physician-owned group, Medical Associates of Northwest Arkansas, known as MANA.
In 2008, Cassat decided to open his own practice in Springdale.

“When I went out on my own, I wanted to do things differently,” he said.

Cassat said he wanted to spend more time with patients than is typically allowed in a large clinic or hospital setting. Instead of trying to see as many patients as possible, he wanted to focus on quality.

The goal of Cassat Family Medicine is to provide proactive, preventative care. Patients are more than just a means to pay overhead, he said.

“When we spend more time with the patient, we provide better care and we enjoy our jobs better,” he said. “We also earn the trust and confidence of the patient.”

By treating his patients like they’re family, Cassat said he’s motivated to provide them with the best possible treatment.
