May Workshops Planned at UAFS
The University of Arkansas-Fort Smith will offer two workshops for architectural firms.
A “3ds Max” workshop is scheduled for May 14-16. A “Revit Architecture” workshop will be May 16-18. The fee for each is $350, but a fee of $525 is available for those who enroll in both courses. Each course will meet from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day.
“3ds Max” was formerly titled “3D Studio.” It is a modeling, animation and rendering program created by Autodesk Inc.
“Revit Architecture” allows users to view designs in any view, including a schedule of development.
The courses have partially been funded by a gift from Merhl and Elizabeth Palenske. The couple donated funds to establish the university’s Autodesk Training Center in 1991.
“This type of training is usually only offered in large metropolitan areas, such as New York City, Dallas or Chicago,” said Argie Nichols, UAFS associate professor in computer-aided drafting and design. “The average cost per person is also much higher, with a three-day session of ‘3ds Max’ training usually costing approximately $1,200 a person. The Palenskes made it possible for us to offer this training at such a reasonable rate.”
