Hatfield Home
Former Arkansas Razorbacks coach and player Ken Hatfield is returning to The Natural State, according to an article in the Houston Chronicle.
The 63-year-old Helena native and his wife, Sandy, moved into a home on 8-plus acres in Springdale, just in time to enjoy the first snow fall of the season. After stints at the University of Colorado and the University of South Carolina, Hatfield most recently coached at Rice University before resigning last November.
“Born and reared (in Arkansas) and grew up in an era when the whole state just followed the Razorbacks,” Hatfield said in the story. “Every day, you listen to the call-in show, and there may be about eight hours a day and it’s all on the Razorbacks. That’s it.”
Hatfield starred as a defensive back on Arkansas’ 1964 National Championship team.
He led the Razorbacks to a 55-17-1 record and two Southwest Conference titles while coach from 1984 to 1989.
