Smith, White to Build Fort Smith Auto Park
Fort Smith auto dealers Smith Chevrolet Cadillac Co. and Bill White Auto Mall have purchased a combined 40 acres on South 36th Street off Interstate 540 in Fort Smith from The Westphal Group to start River Valley Auto Park, said Jim Nunnelee of Nunnelee Commercial Properties, the developer of the site. He expects infrastructure development to start in the spring, but added construction on the buildings is still a couple years away.
The development land consists of 80 acres, he said. The Westphal Group of Fort Smith is selling the remaining 40 acres for development. Nunnelee said about $2 million is being spent for street, water and sewer work for the site.
The auto park will officially consist of only Smith Chevrolet and Bill White, but J. Pauley Toyota and Harry Robinson Pontiac Buick will be on the same street.
Smith Chevrolet is currently located at the corner of Zero Street and Towson Avenue, and Bill White Auto Mall is located on U.S. Highway 71 south.
