Print Guys Finally Get Their Due (Outtakes Opinion)
We’ve been meaning to give kudos to KNWA-TV for its 6 a.m. newscast segment, “In Black and White.”
Morning show anchor, Neile Jones, and morning meteorologist, John Patrick, hold up examples of the latest news reports from local print publications and discuss some of the day’s most important stories. By using the actual newspapers and magazines as visual aides, KNWA goes the extra mile to properly give credit to the news agency that actually compiled the news reports.
Other local electronic media outlets, especially some local radio stations, are notorious for simply reading their morning newscasts out of the daily newspapers without acknowledging the people who did the research.
The segment gives the show a more personal, conversational feel and adds a lot more local flavor than we’ve seen presented elsewhere.
