Geno?s Pizza Set for UARK Bowl
Linda Rogers of Fort Smith plans to open a Geno’s Pizza restaurant by Feb. 1 in the UARK Bowl building on Fayetteville’s Dickson Street. Rogers has two Geno’s restaurants in Fort Smith and one in Van Buren. The first one opened in 1985 in Fort Smith.
“We make ’em fresh every day,” Rogers said. “We make our dough fresh every day. The fresh vegetables are cut fresh every day … We don’t use a lot of sauce, but we use a lot of cheese. It’s really good cheese.”
Geno’s sells only thin-crust pizza. The restaurant will sell pizza by the slice from its buffet line, in addition to dine-in and carry-out. Rogers said the Fayetteville restaurant’s proximity to the University of Arkansas should make it popular with students there.
“You can walk and eat it,” she said of pizza-munching students on the run.
Nick Rogers, Susan Rogers’ son, will manage the Fayetteville restaurant.
The 1,100-SF space was previously home to Taylor & Co. Jewelers, which closed in March. Renovation work to convert the former retail space to be used as a restaurant is being done by Robin Moore, a general contractor with Division Six Construction Inc. of Fort Smith. Moore did the construction work for the other three Geno’s restaurants.
