Former IBP Exec Resigns From Tyson
Tyson Foods Inc. of Springdale on Nov. 11 announced the resignation of Robert L. Peterson from its board of directors. Peterson, 71, resigned for health reasons, the company said.r
A member since 2001, Peterson was named president and chief operating officer of IBP Inc. in 1977. In 1980, he became CEO and then chairman in 1981.r
Peterson lives in Dakota Dunes, S.D. He served as one of the original cattle buyers for IBP when the company began in 1961.r
Tyson bought beef and pork company IBP for about $4.7 billion in 2001.r
“I have great respect for Bob and the strong leadership he has provided the meat industry for so many years,” John Tyson, Tyson’s chairman and CEO, said in a news release.r
“He has been extremely helpful in bringing our two companies together to create the new Tyson Foods.”r
