Offering unique gifts and home décor for babies and children, Bed Bugs of Rogers has found a niche in Northwest Arkansas. Lisa Gray opened the store in May, catering to young couples and families in the area.r
Gray said Bed Bugs’ handmade furniture pieces are the most popular items in the store. Bed Bugs also offers a complete selection of announcements and stationery along with gifts collected from across the country such as “Swankie Blankie,” an exclusive line of handmade quilts from Dallas.r
Gray always wanted to own her own business and, after she had three children, she figured that she knew the ins and outs of baby couture. Her background in retail and marketing gave her business savvy.r
“Starting a business is like having kids: If you wait until you think you’re ready, you’ll never do it,” Gray said.r
Business has been steady so far for Gray. The personal design services are gaining, and the personalized gift registry has been popular. “Who doesn’t love baby stuff?” she asked.r
Bed Bugs occupies 1,800 SF at Village on the Creeks. Gray hopes to expand her two-employee staff for the holidays. She said she has no plans to expand into other locations but instead will focus on finding and handling more lines and adding unique maternity clothing.r
Gray personally financed the project and incurred startup costs of about $15,000.r
