Sharp Dressed Lineup
ZZ Top, the self-proclaimed little ol’ band from Texas, is expected to be the headliner for this year’s Bikes Blues & BBQ event in Fayetteville on Oct. 3.
Greg Mack managing director of Taylor Mack, the Fayetteville advertising agency, said he was awaiting the return from Europe of ZZ Top’s manager. He was hoping to have a contract signed on June 9.
ZZ Top’s long list of hits includes “Legs,” “Tush,” “LaGrange,” “Gimme All Your Lovin’,” “I’m Bad, I’m Nationwide,” “Waitin’ for the Bus” and “Jesus Just Left Chicago.”
ZZ Top started its Beer Drinkers and Hell Raisers Tour in April along with Ted Nugent and Kenny Wayne Shepherd.
Shepherd, who played at last year’s Bikes Blues & BBQ, may have a scheduling conflict with this year’s event. Blues legend B.B. King headlined the 2002 event at Drake Field. This year, the concert will be held in the west parking lot of the Northwest Arkansas Mall behind J.C. Penney.
Nugent hit his pinnacle in the 1970s with, among others, rock and roll classics “Cat Scratch Fever” and “Wango Tango.”
ZZ Top performed at the inauguration party of President George W. Bush on Jan. 18, 2001. The band has played at the University of Arkansas’ Barnhill Arena in the past.
About a dozen local bands will perform on the free stage on Dickson Street during the Oct. 2-4 event.
