Two area hospitals have had their aches and pains relieved by the same doctor — the Murphy Leadership Institute of Washington, D.C.
The remedy for both has been a “realignment” of staff, which means a number of people were let go.
Sparks Regional Medical Center in Fort Smith eliminated 150 positions this year and Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville announced that 43 people were fired June 18.
Another 40 WRMC positions have been eliminated through attrition over the past three months. Nine employees have had their hours reduced. And, 12 licensed professionals were also reassigned from administrative-type positions to patient-care positions.
Consultants from the Murphy Leadership Institute took months surveying and studying the staff structures before making recommendations for realignment.
Information on the Institute’s Web site states that it will perform a “people architecture assessment” to help organizations make reorganization decisions.
“Study after study shows that effective people architecture drives better organizational performance,” the Web site states.
Information on fees for the consulting services weren’t available.
