Region-al Expansion
Regions Bank is scouting Fayetteville for a spot to locate its fifth Northwest Arkansas location.
The publicly traded Birmingham, Ala., chain already has three existing branches in Rogers and one in Bentonville. Five others are located in Sebastian County.
But a Fayetteville office would be its first foray into Washington County. Word is, the Joyce Boulevard area would be Regions’ first choice, but the bank’s higher-ups in Little Rock said it would be premature to comment.
In June of 2002, the last time a Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. summary of branch deposits was made public, Regions’ four Benton County branches had combined deposits of $117.9 million led by its West Walnut Avenue location with about $85 million of that total.
Regions had at that time 5.31 percent of the Benton County market share or the fourth largest slice of the pie behind Arvest Bank Group Inc. ($1.13 billion), Arkansas National Bank ($252.3 million) and Bank of Gravett ($147.1 million).
