D-G Says No to Creeps
We need to follow-up on our Dec. 23 note about the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette’s delivery to one of its subscribers in Benton County (who just happened to be an employee of the Northwest Arkansas Business Journal). The paper was landing farther and farther from his door, causing him to have to waddle out into the yard to retrieve it.
Our note also included some complimentary remarks about the D-G’s service to our main office in Fayetteville, where ice and snow did not deter the newspaper’s couriers from their appointed rounds.
Soon after the item was published in our Outtakes column, an extremely nice woman from the D-G phoned to apologize for any problem we were having in Benton County and to correct it.
She said the daily refers to the phenomenon of a paper landing farther and farther from a subscriber’s door as “creeping,” and that the newspaper would correct the problem immediately.
It did.
