Beverly Agrees with Digital Angel
Beverly Enterprises Inc. has entered an alliance with Digital Angel Corporation to allow the health care company to distribute Digital Angel GPS products and monitoring services to its customers. Financial information on the agreement was not released.
According to a press release, Digital Angel technology represents the first combination of advanced sensors and Web-enabled wireless telecommunications with global positioning system (GPS) links.
By utilizing advanced sensor capabilities, Digital Angel is able to monitor key physical functions, including movement and ambient temperature, and transmit that data, along with accurate emergency location information, to a ground station or monitoring facility.
The company holds a patent on its implantable identification microchips. The microchips are the size of a grain of rice and can be used in humans, companion pets, fish and livestock.
Beverly’s facilities include 461 skilled nursing facilities, 29 assisted living centers, 54 home care and hospice centers and 154 outpatient clinics.
