Development of a new $5 million hospital in Eureka Springs is moving forward with the Oct. 25 announcement that an agreement to purchase the Eureka Family Medical Clinic by Real Sources Inc. of Russellville has been finalized. The $1.1 million purchase includes the 16,200 SF diagnostic link apartment, land, furnishings, equipment and the physician practices of Dr. Dan Bell and Dr. Gregory Kresse at the Eureka Family Medical Clinic.

Real Sources will build an addition to the clinic of 20,000-24,000 SF on Passion Play Road that will become the new Eureka Springs Hospital said David Cox, hospital administrator. Cox said he expects the design process to begin soon and the project to be completed in 2004. Cox said the clinic’s staff will become employees of the new hospital and he doesn’t believe there will be any reduction in their employee benefits. The clinic employees 80 to 90 people, many of them part-time.

Washington Regional Medical System operated the hospital from 1995 until August 2001 and retained a partial ownership in the adjoining clinic. Washington Regional issued a press release Oct. 25 announcing the planned expansion of the Eureka Springs Hospital and the purchase of the clinic.
