Countryside Medical Clinic, a Huntsville clinic associated with Washington Regional Medical Center since 1994, will become part of a group of clinics and medical facilities operated by Boston Mountain Rural Health Center Inc. on Nov. 18.

Melanie Campbell, executive director of the nonprofit community health service, said WRMC “pretty much gave us their operating clinic.”

An annual grant from the U.S. Bureau of Primary Heath Care for $520,000 will pay for the clinic’s operations. Campbell said the grant was prorated this year at $440,000.

Campbell said the rural health system is a “safety net healthcare provider,” which means they don’t turn away patients based on inability to pay.

The Huntsville clinic is currently housed in a 2,500 SF facility on Parrot Drive, but plans are to erect a prefabricated 6,500 SF health center on Gaskill Street with frontage on U.S. 412. Campbell said Boston Mountain will invest an estimated $500,000 in the new clinic.

Countryside is officially changing its name to Boston Mountain Rural Health Center of Huntsville. Boston Mountain Rural Health Center Inc. is based in Marshall, where it has its largest clinic. It also has clinics in Clinton and Fairfield Bay.
