Benton County Club Expanding Facilities

The Boys & Girls Club of Benton County is in the midst of a $2.5 million fund-raising campaign to aid in the expansion and construction of several facilities.

The club recently poured the foundation for a new 13,000-SF unit in Bella Vista located on Arkansas Highway 279, one mile south of the Cooper Communities headquarters.

Among the new unit’s amenities are a full gymnasium, learning center, arts and crafts room, meeting room and game room.

Also, the club is adding 7,000 SF to an existing 17,000 SF at the Carl & Eileen McKinney Club at 2801 Walker St. in Bentonville just west of Interstate 540.

There will be a special events room with a seating capacity of 150, complete with a stage and full-service kitchen.

The Boys & Girls Club recently purchased a building permit valued at $477,000 for that addition.

SSI Inc. of Northwest Arkansas in Tontitown is the general contractor on both the Bella Vista and McKinney Club projects.

The Boys & Girls Club also has the 13,000-SF HLM Unit at Lincoln Middle School.

Nabholz Construction Corp. of Rogers was the general contractor on the new 17,000-SF Rogers club at 409 S. Eighth St. in the former National Guard Armory building.

The Boys & Girls Club moved into that facility in April.

Tom Hough is the executive director of the Boys & Girls Club of Benton County.

Hight-Jackson Associates of Rogers is the architectural firm on the projects.

Palisades SubdivisionrGets 15 New Homes

Kirk Elsass purchased 15 building permits valued at $1.81 million for the addition of more homes at Palisades subdivision in south Springdale.

Palisades, developed by Tom Hayes, is across Arkansas Highway 265 from Basic Block Group.

The homes will be from 1,800-2,000 SF. Most are four bedrooms with two baths. The lots are to be sodded with sprinkler systems in place. They will sell for $175,000-$180,000.

There are 75 residential lots and one commercial lot in the addition.

Lehman Adds 21st Building at Village on the Creeks

Carmen Lehman, owner of CR Lehman Properties in Rogers, is having her 21st commercial building constructed at Village on the Creeks. The building permit was valued at $1.79 million.

Located just off I-540 and just north of Pinnacle Hills, the newest building at Village on the Creeks will be at 5211 Village Parkway in Rogers. It will be 54,000 SF and will be geared for professional offices.

The target date for opening is January.

The general contractor on the project is CR Lehman Construction.

ARC Construction Adding to Centerton Subdivision

ARC Construction and Development Inc. of Centerton on July 12 secured 11 loans totaling $858,000 from Bank of Arkansas to build homes on 11 lots at an existing Centerton subdivision.

There are 54 lots at Walnut Ridge subdivision. ARC had earlier purchased 27 of those lots.

The new homes at Walnut Ridge will range from 1,500-1,750 SF and will be priced from $99,900-$116,000.

Ralph Walker is president of ARC Construction.

Vista Health Expanding Adolescent Facilities

Pinewood Healthcare of Texarkana, Texas, on July 16 purchased a building permit valued at $1.45 million to build a large addition to its Fayetteville health care facility.

Vista Health, part of the former Charter Behavioral Health System, is at 4253 N. Crossover Road.

It was purchased in August 2000 by Texarkana Behavioral Associates LC, the holding company of Pinewood Healthcare. Charter Behavioral Health System’s corporate headquarters in Atlanta filed bankruptcy in February of 2000.

Its latest addition is a one-level, 18,271-SF facility. Vista is targeting January for its opening.

The new facility is helping Vista expand its adolescent services with 20 patient rooms.

Heckathorn Construction Co. of Fayetteville is the general contractor on the project.

The health care facility has been in Fayetteville for 20 years.

Vista Health offers a comprehensive and integrated system of treatment options and educational services designed to improve the quality of life for those suffering from psychiatric and addictive disorders.

Patrick Kelly is the CEO and Dr. Norman Snyder the medical director for Vista Health. Dr. James Naples is president and founder of Texarkana Behavioral.

Phillips Adds More SF to Warehouse Company

Phil Phillips, owner of A Advantage Warehouse in Springdale, on May 30 got a loan of $833,000 from Community Bank of North Arkansas to add to his company’s holding capacity.

Located at Springdale Industrial Park at 1845 Turnbow Ave., the latest warehouse is 30,000 SF.

Overall, A Advantage Warehouse has about 100,000 SF of space, much of which is leased.

A Advantage Warehouse is a third-party logistics provider, picking up, storing and shipping goods for a variety of vendors such as Pappas Foods.

Jim Taylor is the manager of A Advantage Warehouse.

Liquor Store Moving to New Location

The Springdale Liquor Association recently purchased a building permit valued at $582,198 for a new building to house an existing liquor store.

Springdale Liquors, currently at 2682 W. Sunset Ave., will be moving into its new home at 3424 E. Robinson Ave. in November. It will be located in front of the new Harps Food Store on U.S. Highway 412.

The 8,000-SF building will be built by Commerce Construction Co. of Springdale.

The Springdale Liquor Association is a management company operated by Harold Dean Hewitt and Jim Phillips. It manages seven liquor stores in Springdale.
