Pat Shinall and Randy Burgess know how to sell office furniture. Last year, they combined to vend $3.9 million of office furniture for their former employer, Today’s Office, Shinall said.

Together, they devoted 34 years of service to Today’s Office — Burgess gave 21 years, and Shinall worked 13.

In June, Shinall and Burgess left Today’s Office and opened Innovative Business Furniture, the only authorized dealer of Herman Miller office furniture in Northwest Arkansas. The new 4,000-SF shop sits about six blocks north of Today’s Office, and the building will be halved into warehouse and showroom.

Innovative Business Furniture offers office planning consultation and sells systems of cubicles, desks and chairs. Contract work will make up most of the venture’s business, Shinall said.

In addition to Burgess and Shinall, Jean Beauchesne also left Today’s Office to help open Innovative Business Furniture. Shinall said the three aim to make their enterprise the No. 1 provider of contract office furniture in Northwest Arkansas.
