Business Journal Announces Editorial Promotions
Two Northwest Arkansas Business Journal editorial staff members have received promotions. The changes reflect the publication’s long-term growth strategy and its success during the past four years, said Editor Jeffrey Wood.
Bill Bowden, an associate editor with the Business Journal since its March, 1997, inception, has been promoted to senior editor. Elisabeth Butler, an assistant editor with the newspaper since September, 2000, has been promoted to associate editor.
The two will continue covering their respective industry beats, and the change will be seamless to Business Journal readers.
Bowden covers retail, food, the media, education and employment. Butler follows health care, insurance, new businesses, manufacturing, tourism and the arts.
“We are pleased to have the most veteran business news staff in our market,” Wood said. “These changes are a product of hard work and anticipated growth. We’re excited about the Business Journal’s future, and very happy to be working with veterans like Bill and go-getters like Elisabeth.”
Bowden earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in journalism from the University of Arkansas.
He worked as a writer and photographer for the UA and Tulane University in New Orleans, spending three years at each university. Bowden was the first Fayetteville bureau chief for the Arkansas Democrat and the last Fayetteville bureau chief for the Arkansas Gazette.
Butler received a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the UA. She served as an editorial intern with the Business Journal from May of 1999 until joining the publication full time.
“We are proud of our relationship with the UA journalism department and of the fact that our editorial staff has spent a combined 56 years as Northwest Arkansas residents,” Wood said. “We also have two interns who are currently going through the UA program and we have been pleased with their work and abilities.”
The Business Journal is a niche publication focused on business executive and management issues in Benton and Washington counties. The print edition is published every other Monday, and daily reports are available at ArkansasBusiness.com.
